Steve Kinsey
Chairman, California Coastal Commission

Steve Kinsey was appointed to the California Coastal Commission by the State Senate Rules Committee in 2011.  He is serving his second four year term on the Commission and his third one year term as Chair. He is also completing his fifth term as a member of the Marin County Board of Supervisors, after which he will be leaving public office on January2, 2017. During his time on the Commission, Steve has sought to strengthen the Commission’s relationships with the public, applicants and diverse stakeholder organizations.

As Chair of the Commission, Steve also holds a Board position on the California Coastal Conservancy Board of Directors, the agency that allocates grants. Steve has found the duty of giving away money for resource protection and coastal access to be more appreciated than regulating coastal development, but he considers both to be an integral part of stewarding our remarkable coastline for future generations to also enjoy and care for.
