One of Southern California’s most cherished holiday traditions will come alive as Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort hosts its 26th Annual Lighting of the Bay on Friday, November 25. The festivities will include live musical performances by OC Song & Dance and the Corona del Mar High School Choir, a roaming magician, three puppet shows and a visit by Santa Claus who will flip a massive switch to illuminate dozens of floating “trees” and other holiday decoration on the water. There will also be screening of “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” for the kids. Parking and all activities are free including, build-your-own-s’mores, cookies, hot cocoa, and cider. The Dunes will be selling its award-winning seafood chowder, hot dogs, chili and corn muffins and bar will be open for the grown-ups.
FRIDAY, NOV. 25 LINE-UP
3 p.m. — Corona del Mar High School Choir and OC Children’s Song Group perform holiday songs.
5:30 p.m. – Santa arrives and leads the countdown to flip the giant switch to light the bay.
6 p.m. – Families are encouraged to dress warmly and bring blankets to enjoy a screening of “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” on the beachfront.
